Kapitel 1 Kultur

This article really made me think about the lack of a German sub-culture in America. My grandmother was born in Germany yet I know little to nothing about her culture. I wasn't surprised to find out that more Americans claim German ancestry than any other. My grandmother moved here after World War II, so I can understand her need to assimilate to American culture. I didn't know that German culture was so influential on the midwest. I enjoyed the piece on the Milwaukee Turners and what they did for physical education. I would like to visit New Glaus, Wisconsin one day. I guess that Michigan is a large German area.
